Orange Marble Blushing Angelfish
(M/g S/S) or (M/M S/S)Orange Marble Blushing is the newest variety showing orange coloration. They tend to start out with less orange than a Koi, but it tend to get brighter and more intense than the average Koi color as it ages. The greater amounts of black and the high contrast makes for a stunning fish! You can expect the color to get more intense as they age, if conditions are not stressful.
We price our Orange Marble angelfish based on the amount of orange on them. If they show no orange we label them as Dark Marbles. Our Regular Orange Marbles have approximately 10-20% orange coverage on their bodies. Our Premium Orange Marbles have approximately 20-40% orange, and our Select Orange Marbles range from about 40-80% orange on the body. Keep in mind that the greater amount of black can cover much of the orange. Many of the "Selects" have very little white, mostly orange and black. Orange Marble Blushing: The darker fish in the video are Orange Marbles (M/g S/S). The lighter ones are (Het Gold Marble) Koi (Gm/g S/S). The orange marbles get much more intensely orange as they age.
Orange Marble Color Genetics
(M/g) or (M/M) The Blushing version have two Stripeless genes. Like
the Koi, this is a fish with a very complex color genetic makeup.
The only known gene interactions are from Marble, Gold and Stripeless
alleles in different combinations. There is great variability in
the expression of orange pigment. The requirements to get good expression
are not completely understood. A non-stressing environment is very
important and foods containing carotenoids are also effective in
developing and maintaining color.
