Aquarium Fish Fungicides
Acriflavine - Effective against fungus and velvet. Often used for hatching eggs. Two drops/gallon - repeat in 3 days. Ich Control - Main ingredient is malachite green, which makes it very useful against fungal infections as well as parasties. One drop/gallon for 3 consecutive days. Methylene Blue - Most widely used medication by aquarists to hatch fish eggs. Add until water is medium blue in color. Established fungal infections in fish are difficult to treat. The key is to get in under control as quickly as possible. Fungi are a group of organisms that feed off organic matter (fish, eggs, food, etc). Very low, or very high temperatures can compound the disease. The most effective medication is malachite green and formaldehyde. Acriflavine and methylene blue also have benefits - especially on fish eggs. |
